The awards

Since 2006, the CDO has recognized the best extra virgin olive oils of the Baix Ebre-Montsià, Siurana and Terra Alta PDOs. The purpose of the Awards is to recognize the work and effort of the extra virgin olive oil producers of Camp de Tarragona and the Ebro Lands and to highlight their oils. The prizes consist of the purchase of the Winners bottled oils for 1 amount of 1,500 euros to each of the categories. In this way, the Tarragona Provincial Council and the Reus City Council will be able to promote them through different actions. In addition, oil mills may mention the award on the label of the extra virgin olive oil containers. Like previous editions, the winners and other winners have received as a gift 1 blown glass oil bottle from the "Museu i Forn de Vidre de Vimbodí i Poblet".

Bodies for the revitalization of the olive sector

Apart from boosting the sector in the Tarragona regions and promoting extra virgin olive oil, the CDO acts as a unifying agent for all entities related to the oil sector. The CDO is part of the Spanish Association of Municipalities of Olivo (AEMO), an organization that aims to establish, from local entities or associated municipalities, a platform for knowledge, promotion and revaluation of the culture of olive oil.
